The Olympic athletes will not be getting all of the attention this summer!

As host of the Olympic Games 2012, London will follow in the tradition of past host cities using this world stage to showcase an amazing assortment of new sports structures.

As the last preparations are made for this big event, new and impressive buildings can be spotted in London’s brand new Olympic Park!

The centerpiece of the Olympic Park, this huge sporting complex is the design of Populous, an architectural firm specializing in sport facilities. With a capacity of 80,000 seats, it is the third largest arena in Britain, behind Wembley Stadium and Twickenham Stadium.

Apart from the splendid architecture, the Legacy Plans for the London Olympics include an innovative engineering feat that allows the stadium occupancy to be decreased from 80,000 to 25,000 seats after the Games end, insuring its usefulness as a sports facility long after the athletes go home.
