Near Sloane Square you will find one of the unique churches of London, The Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity.  This church boasts one of our favorite stained glass windows, worth a walk down the street from your Sloane Square vacation flat!

Adjacent to Sloane Square on Sloane Street is The Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, the widest church in London. Yes 4 inches wider than St. Paul’s Cathedral. Built from 1888-1890 it is a striking arts & crafts design. The Holy Trinity Church, the “Cathedral of the Arts & Crafts Movement” is an open space uncluttered by static pews. Open all day every day, the church welcomes people of all faiths or of no faith.

This “Cathedral of the Arts & Crafts Movement” has some important stained glass windows. The enormous east window with stained glass by Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris is glorious. Another glass window by William Blake Richmond is more infamous, described as “highly decadent imagery”. But have a look and decide for yourself it is really so naughty.

Holy Trinity Church is also famous for its four-manual J. W. Walker & Sons organ, Damaged in World War II, the organ was patched and latter partially rebuilt. In 2011 a more complete restoration will take place. Check the board out front for free concerts. The acoustics and organ are amazing and worth an hour of your time.
