After being closed since late 2007 and being headed for the Dead Pubs Society,
The Surprise is back!
What a surprise - we might add!

It's with great relief that we announce The Surprise's return! The pub is back servicing the locals and offering quite good food!
Rescued from yet another flat conversion, it was probably due for a makeover. Walking in, some nods have been made to current trends (grey-green walls and light and airy interior); yet, a lot of the original features, possibly most noticeably the stained glass in windows and the partition separating the old two sides of the bar, have been kept!Good beer on the bar and the usual Geronimo menu are as to be expected.

It's not the old pub we remember, but I think it's better! It meets the needs of the locals and with the restoration, it is not doomed to be added to the Dead Pubs Society's list... And just for timeliness, there is a beer on to celebrate the Royal Wedding - Windsor Knot by the Windsor & Eton Brewery.
